Five bold predictions for Week 10 of the NFL season.
Welcome to Glass Slipper! Koby Brea is making himself some money; please enjoy the show.
- Jacob Rhee
Every Sunday morning, I will make five bold predictions regarding the upcoming NFL games. Each time I get one incorrect, $10 is added to the money pot. At the end of the 18-week regular season, that pool of cash will be spent on gifts for random Glass Slipper subscribers. I hope you have a lot of fun rooting against me! Let’s go.
Prediction 1: Drake Maye and Caleb Williams combine for 450+ total yards and 4+ total touchdowns.
Five first-round rookie quarterbacks have taken at least one snap this year, and I like all of them. I want to see how Maye looks with some real offensive personnel around him, and we need to get Williams a competent coordinator. But I’ve been so impressed with the way that these two dudes have battled.
This seems a defensive slugfest on paper, but I think our two young signal-callers put on a show instead.
Prediction 2: Mac Jones commits multiple turnovers in his first start with Jacksonville.
In his rookie campaign, Jones made the Pro Bowl, clinched a playoff berth, and was hailed by Patriots fans as the next Tom Brady. I can’t believe all of you fools let Mac drop to us. Get ready for Part 2 of the dynasty! You guys must feel so stupid. Mac! Mac! Mac! Mac!
Do you understand how poorly you have to perform over the next two seasons to then get packed up and shipped away for a sixth-round pick before Year 4? Those same New England folks that gloated in our faces were rallying behind Bailey Zappe - who is now QB3 in Cleveland - just to avoid watching Jones play.
Mac is among the biggest fakers in all of sports, and he’ll get embarrassed by the Eagles this afternoon. I already know that CBS is thirsting to show a throwback picture of Jones and Jalen Hurts at Alabama together.
Prediction 3: Someone other than Russell Wilson or Jayden Daniels throws a pass in the Steelers-Commanders game.
Why not have a little fun? Both of these teams are rolling, and each is headed to the playoffs. Kliff Kingsbury has an affinity for trickery, and Mike Tomlin is really feeling himself at the moment. Maybe we even see a Justin Fields red-zone package. I think there’s some creativity in this one, and it’ll have Ian Eagle excited in the booth.
Prediction 4: Houston finishes with 400+ total yards and 27+ points on Sunday Night Football.
The dominant Texans attack that we all envisioned in the offseason simply hasn’t materialized. We can blame the Nico Collins and Stefon Diggs injuries as much as we want, but there’s no way around it. CJ Stroud just hasn’t been all that great.
The former Buckeye undoubtedly has a big second half of the campaign lined up for us, though. I expect him to find a rhythm with Bobby Slowik, and we’ll witness a shootout between two awesome squads in Houston this evening.
Prediction 5: 50+ receiving yards for Jaylen Waddle against the Rams.
Hey, this counts as a bold pick. I don’t want to hear it. Waddle has fallen short of this benchmark in seven consecutive contests, and he’s fourth on his own team in targets. I honestly kind of forgot he existed until I glanced at the depth chart the other day.
There’s nothing like a matchup against the Rams to cure a wideout’s struggles. LA has the worst cornerback room in the league, and the Dolphins’ fourth-year star will bust out of his slump in an absolute must-win game for Miami on Monday night.
Week 9 Results: 2-3
Overall Season Picks Record: 12-33
Current NFL Prize Pot: $330
