I unexpectedly extended my college football picks into the postseason, because I felt like handing out more prizes. Let’s do the same with the NFL. The rules haven’t changed; each time a prediction is wrong, it costs me $10 in rewards. I’ll make five picks for each of the four rounds of the playoffs. You’re getting 20 extra chances to inflate the Prize Pot. Keep on rooting against me!

Prediction 1: Jalen Hurts finishes with 200+ passing yards.

Our guy has only reached this benchmark once in his last seven outings. The senseless talking heads love to claim that Hurts can’t beat teams with his arm, and he’s unfortunately been feeding those folks ammunition here recently.

Jalen always seems to be dinged up during Philadelphia’s playoff runs. This season is no different; he’ll have a knee brace on today, and I’m pretty confident that the injury is more serious than what the Eagles are revealing. The 26-year-old should find his groove regardless, and wake up this dormant passing game.

Prediction 2: Philadelphia beats Washington by 9+ points.

There are real, credible people in the media taking the Commanders to win this contest outright. As much as I love Jayden Daniels, I think they’re getting a little bit carried away. This is the best running back on the planet, staring at the third-worst run defense in the league.

Nolan Smith wreaks havoc from start to finish, and the Eagles take the NFC for the second time in three years.

Prediction 3: Josh Allen throws at least one interception.

At some point, it’s going to happen. It has to, right? Allen has tossed just a single pick in the last seventy days. That’s undeniably impressive stuff for a dude that flung 47 of them in a three-season span.

Buffalo’s signal-caller will remember - if only for a brief moment - how exhilarating it is to put the ball in danger, and he’ll hand Kansas City a bow-wrapped gift.

Prediction 4: Isiah Pacheco finishes as the Chiefs’ leading rusher.

When Bills fans have their weekly nightmare about that Divisional loss to KC last year, Pacheco is one of the primary individuals inducing pain. He tallied 111 yards from scrimmage on 16 touches, and turned the lights out with a late first down.

Kareem Hunt has taken the reins as the main back, but Andy Reid always tends to just ride the hot hand. I have Pacheco finding his pre-injury form, and igniting that home crowd with a few violent rumbles.

Prediction 5: Kansas City defeats Buffalo by 4+ points.

It feels like the Bills missed their chance. In the aforementioned heartbreaker last January, the best Buffalo team of my lifetime fell to the weakest iteration of the dynastic Chiefs. I have a hard time envisioning a different outcome materializing tonight.

It’s unfortunate that we need to have a discussion about the officials before a game, but it feels necessary in this situation. To me, the criticisms about NFL referees sound even louder right now than they were during that infamous lockout campaign. I’m absolutely fascinated to see how this one is called. Does the crew swing in the opposite direction by being kind to Buffalo, in an attempt to quiet the noise? Will there be a full-fledged online explosion when Matt Milano is flagged for breathing on Travis Kelce in a big moment? I guess we’re about to find out.

  • Divisional Round Results: 2-3

  • Overall Season Picks Record: 33-67

  • Current NFL Prize Pot: $670

Pressroom

As long as Jalen Hurts doesn’t mess it up too bad, they find ways to win.

Colt McCoy - literally one of the worst NFL quarterbacks I’ve ever watched - on the Philadelphia Eagles.
