A recap of Week 10 in college football.

Welcome to Glass Slipper! I can’t say I ever anticipated seeing a backwards hurdle; please enjoy the show.

- Jacob Rhee

Here are my 10 biggest takeaways from Week 10 of the college football season.

  1. Ashton’s revisions.

Remember when people claimed that Ashton Jeanty needed to break Barry Sanders’ single-season rushing record to have a chance at the Heisman? Well, I think it may be happening.

Ashton is 1,103 yards behind, and he’ll have at least six games left if he stays healthy. That’s doable.

  1. The QB1 race.

Imagine going back in time to tell the 2021 version of yourself about how the 2025 NFL Draft is looking. Well, there are two guys with a decent chance to be the first quarterback taken. Both of them are already starters in college, but neither play in the FBS. I’m talking about Shedeur Sanders at Jackson State, and Cam Ward at Incarnate Word. I can tell you don’t believe me, but I’m telling the truth. I promise!

  1. Clean it up.

I love his competitive spirit, and I’m proud of the way he battled on Saturday. But Will Howard is way, way, way too casual with the ball. It was interesting to hear Gus Johnson and Joel Klatt rave about his season; I just don’t think it’s been overly impressive. To me, Will has been about 10% better than Kyle McCord was in 2023. That’s not good enough to win a national championship. He needs to find another level.

  1. Random Davison Igbinosun heroics.

In 2019, former Broncos executive John Elway infamously questioned whether his left tackle Garett Bolles knew what a hold was. That’s how I feel watching Davison Igbinosun every week. He’s so unbelievably physical and grabby in coverage; I honestly don’t think he fully understands what he’s allowed to do. Either that, or he’s just daring officials to call it.

With that said, his interception at the end of the first half might’ve rescued this Ohio State campaign. The play itself was more luck than anything, but I’m willing to give Davison the credit there. That’s the biggest moment of his career.

  1. Florida’s silver lining.

The Gators’ faulty field goal unit may have cost them a shot to shock Georgia. But hey, look on the bright side! That three-man operation boasts an absolutely incredible collection of fun names. Rocco Underwood snaps the ball to Jeremy Crawshaw, who holds it for Trey Smack? Fantastic stuff.

  1. 470 yards from Oregon in the Big House.

Wyoming held Oregon to 24 points in Week 1, when the Ducks were still ironing things out; if there’s a defense in America that can keep this attack in check right now, I haven’t seen it. I think Dillon Gabriel and company could roll out of bed and hang four touchdowns on anyone, including Georgia.

  1. Indiana rolls on.

Sheesh. The Hoosiers’ slimmest margin of victory this year is their 14-point victory over Maryland, in which the Terps recorded a garbage-time touchdown. That’s real, legitimate dominance.

The first CFP rankings are released tomorrow night. Indiana better get a whole lot of respect.

  1. Evening commotion.

The noon window of games came and went, and it seemed like we might be headed for a rare chaos-free week. Then, college football happened. Five teams in the 10-18 range of the AP poll were taken down. Iowa State, Clemson, and Texas A&M all fell to middling three-loss squads. Kansas State got stunned by 4-5 Houston, and SMU went out and dropped 48 on undefeated Pitt. Surprises always happen when things seem too calm. How can you not love this sport?

  1. My updated Heisman ladder.

1) Ashton Jeanty, Boise State RB

2) Travis Hunter, Colorado WR/CB

3) Dillon Gabriel, Oregon QB

4) Cam Ward, Miami (FL) QB

5) Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss QB

6) Kurtis Rourke, Indiana QB

7) Kaleb Johnson, Iowa RB

8) Antwaun Powell-Ryland, Virginia Tech EDGE

9) Cade Klubnik, Clemson QB

10) Bryson Daily, Army QB

  1. Time to peek ahead.

After getting clowned by everyone for its early loss to Nebraska, Colorado quietly has a chance to barge into the Big 12 Championship Game. Yes, that’s right. Deion could be coaching for a first-round playoff bye in a month. The Buffs have a big clash with Texas Tech on Saturday.

But two huge SEC wars will capture most of the attention. First, Georgia travels to Oxford to take on Ole Miss. Then, we have a CFP elimination game on our hands. Alabama and LSU, under the lights in Baton Rouge. It’s going to be another fun time.
